Woo! DD! (Not mine, but...)

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 11, 2007, 5:29 AM

But one I suggested. This isn't actually the first time I've had a DD I suggested get made into one, but it is the first time I got credit for it because all the previous times, they got actually made into DDs by directors that I hadn't suggested it to. But it has always been good to know that I can identify DD material fairly well.

Sooo! Go look!

My original message to the admin (for Fionna's benefit): One reason I started watching her was because of the amazing detail she puts into her backgrounds. This one is her best one yet, with all sorts of fun things woven into it, yet it doesn't detract from the focus. She has "inspired me" to work harder on my own backgrounds.

Ha. Excellent. I've only ever had one suggestion become a DD, but it's pretty excellently fun to wreak mayhem on some unknown.. ^_^

Long venerated by the Christian Church, Adimus was removed from the roll of angels eligible for honor by the faithful in 745.. declared ineligible by a Council of Rome for lack of evidence for his existence and works.

Aww, thank you so much Stacy, I really do appreciate your efforts! :glomp:

Looks like there's been put a lot of work in that indeed
I get so angry when I always see these super-popular-content-pictures that are just typically well done get DD's, nothing special or interesting you know

I'm gonna start suggesting DD's too, and put in a looong description of why I like it, and a short for them to use under artist's comments
You just send the gallery moderators a note or how do you do it?

Different gallery directors have different preferences on how to suggest DDs. Some of them are very very picky about it so be sure to look around their page and see if they have a journal entry or shoutbox or FAQ or something linked that says how they prefer their DD suggestions.

First of all, though, you should make sure to send it to the appropriate gallery director or they'll probably ignore it. Here's a list of the DD selectors:
FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?

Also, it's a good idea to not be long-winded in your reasons why, 'cause most of them stress being "short" about that part. 3 - 4 sentences is probably good. And I always include a thumbnail along with an actual link, some of them won't even consider it if you didn't include a thumbnail. So I just put 'em all in for good measure. And another thing they sometimes want is their pageviews, but some of them say they don't care about that at all.

I think that's about it!

Errrh... argh! It frustrates me a lot that this deviantart community is such a pageview-orgy! It makes me really angry!! :rage:
Fuck it! I should be a gallery director!

But thanks for the info!

 You would be the best gallery director EVAH.

But on the pageview thing -- I think it's a phase for most people. I went through that whole "moar pageviews plz" phase, myself. Then I realized it doesn't really mean much at all.

Well, I guess it IS sort of an indicator, if the artist has a lot of consistent, good work and they have, say, under 10,000 pageviews. But you have to take into account more than the pageviews alone, since there are plenty of people who don't get pageviews due to their artwork. (I think most of mine are there due to a combination of having SOME good art, and having a stickied thread in the HWL forum, and being active on the forums.)

But then again I've seen some people who have over 100K pageviews who still want more and more and more of them.

Hmm, wonder what it takes to become one? I'm sure I could sacrifice a little more time to be active in community..
And yeah, I noticed quickly that the days I got the most pageviews was days I had posted new threads in the complaints forum,
PEOPLE SEEM TO LIKE ANGRY PEOPLE AND I HATE THAT! AAAAAAAAAAHHH!
Or maybe it's 'cause I actually complain about the good stuff!! :rage:... uuurh, whatever :paranoid:

Yeah, I'd say it is sort of an indicator, but there are many factors that leads to PW's, mainly popularity I'd say, naked stuff, humour and anime fanart, as long as it's above average..
MEH!!
